We have done research on the
training needed around Eating Disorders within our local community and beyond.
We know that training is
important to update skills, knowledge and understanding, but its also proven to
be an effective tool for active prevention, detection and support for those
with all types of Eating Disorders.
We offer training to all
Health and Education Professionals, School Nurses, Youth and Community workers,
other agencies working within their community.
EDN Training:
Is based on years of experience working within
Eating Disorders;

Certificates will also be given to all attendees.
Topics:
We realise the need for
different levels of training depending on the skills needed, so we provide
workshops tailored to your professional requirements. Theses are some of the
topics we cover within our training:
Signs and symptoms;
How to support
;
Treatment available;
Roles and responsibilities;
Effective communication;
Listening skills;
The importance of body image;
An understanding of the therapeutic process;
Other related issues e.g. self harm.
SCHOOLS
We see from the responses
from our local schools the need for workshops and PSHE sessions on Eating
Disorders but we also realise the restrictions of funding available within
schools to use this service.
In response to this circle
of need/funding problem, we feel we may be able to offer a solution to schools
within our local area where our services will be affordable with minimum effort
and without eating into each schools tight budget.
We propose that in order to
benefit from our services, each school could hold a Mufti-Day once per year
and depending on how much is raised would receive services on the following
sliding-scale:
£0-£200 per year
One
age-appropriate Awareness-Raising talk to be presented to each year group
within the school per year.
£201-£500 per year
One

within the school per year.
1 age-appropriate PSHE
lesson on Eating Disorders per year group per year.
£501 - £700 per year
