Who are we?
Eating Disorder Networks is a registered charity, established in 2000, with the aim of helping people (and their carers) whose lives are affected by eating disorders by providing a service that provides early access to care, treatment, and support networks to aid their recovery whilst re-establishing their self respect and providing awareness and education. Established as a support group for people with eating disorders and their carers, those involved found that from their own experience and from information received from other carers and sufferers within the groups with which they worked, just how desperate the situation is.
Who do we help?
Within EDN we have developed a support service called Caring Whispers that aims to help anyone who has been affected by eating problems. These can include Anorexia, Bulimia, Disordered eating and Obesity. Not only do we focus on the sufferer but we also focus on the carers of people with eating problems.
At Caring Whispers we pride ourselves on our friendly nature and unique way of offering support to our clients.
Who can be a member?
Membership is open to any individual, voluntary or community organisation or statutory body who agree to support and promote our aims. Any member has the opportunity to become involved in running EDN and become part of this dynamic organisation.
How do we join?
If you want to apply for a membership please either download our form or use our online facility. You will be contacted within six working weeks of applying and will then begin to receive our Newsletter and updates of events.
What services do we offer?
Currently we offer one to one initial assessments to establish suitability for all parties involved. Once we have completed the initial assessment we will then offer a place in one of our self help groups which run weekly. At the moment we facilitate an Obesity and Anorexia/Bulimia self help group where we encourage people to find their own road to recovery.
Our help line has been operational for the last four years and has proven to be successful since it began. One of friendly and discreet members of staff will be there to take your call whenever you need support. We also offer a text and email support service for people who feel it is easier to talk this way.
