Welcome arrow Self Harm - Carers

Carers

A carer is a person who is trying to look after or support a loved one who self-harms, and is struggling to cope with the side effects self-harm can bring.

  • Carers often have feelings of guilt, shock and horror and ask questions like, why do they do it? Is it my fault? Where did I go wrong?

  • We also realise that carers are the forgotten people and need a great deal of help and support.

  • Self-harm is a way of coping with difficult thoughts and emotions.

  • We offer specialised support, advice, information, knowledge and understanding, at a time when you feel isolated and alone and don’t know if you will be able to support your loved one in your fear and confusion.
