Carer Information
|
A carer is a person who is trying to look
after or support a loved one who has issues with food. Often a carer has little
or no understanding of the illness and is struggling to cope with the side
effects Eating Disorders can bring.
Carers often have feelings of guilt and shame and ask questions such as:
'Did I do anything wrong?' Why do they do that?'

We also realise that carers are always
the forgotten people and need a great deal of help and support.
Remember: Eating Disorders are not dieting
gone wrong,
but a way of coping with difficult thoughts and emotions.
We offer specialized support, advice,
information, knowledge and understanding, at a time when you feel alone and
isolated and dont know if you will be able to support your loved one in your
fear and confusion.
Through knowledge, understanding and
sharing your feelings, you can overcome your fears and confusion to become
effective in helping your loved one on to the road to recovery.
